My picks: Their organic cotton IDAA t-shirts have become staples in my wardrobe. I pair these with a pair of their black high waisted INGAA X STRETCH jeans (92% organic cotton, 6% recycled polyester, 2% elastane) for the perfect combo.

I only stumbled across Armedangels a year ago after moving to Germany, but they are quickly becoming my go-to. So here are a few reasons why it's worth checking them out.

The brand mission. It speaks for itself really. Armedangels not only acknowledges that we are harming people and planet through our lifestyle choices, but they refuse to accept it, promising instead to enact change.

Circularity, climate action, sustainable production and social responsibility is at the core of everything the brand does. For example, they:

  • Utilise materials such as organic wool, organic cotton, recycled materials, and four different ecological alternatives to polluting viscose: LENZING™ ECOVERO™, TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Modal, REFIBRA ™.

  • Partner with organisations like Fairtrade, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and the Fair Wear Foundation in order hold themselves accountable, and to ensure that they meet the highest of standards.

  • Process returned Armedangels t-shirts and denim into new high-quality fibres, and eventually new clothes.

  • Raise funds, and support, a number of organisations, including Client Earth, Extinction Rebellion, Doctors Without Borders, Sea-Watch, Black Lives Matter, and the Bangladeshi National Garment Workers Federation.

  • Developed the Armedangels organic farmers association, in partnership with Suminter, which is helping 500 small-scale farmers in India to convert from conventional cotton to organic cotton, while also providing training and technical support.

Their commitment to the environment and the people who they work with, is further reinforced by their "Great" Good on You rating.

  • Environment 5/5: Awarded for their utilisation of eco-friendly and sustainable materials, and the use of renewable energy.

  • Labour 5/5: The brand is not only a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, but they trace most of their supply chain, pay a living wage, and audit their suppliers.

  • Animal 4/5: The brand does not use fur, leather, down, exotic animal skin, exotic animal hair or angora, and sources wool from non-mulesed sheep. They also have Peta certifications.

Their clothes aren’t focused on chasing trends. Yet the brands offering manages to remain trendy, modern, and timeless.

They are innovative. They introduced the circularity.ID®, which is an NFC-tag sewn into the sleeve of garments that can be scanned and provide information regarding such things as producers and fabric composition.
